Life Story for Alice D Desmond

Alice Dorothy Desmond passed away at her home in Marlboro, NJ on December 12, 2022 surrounded by family. Alice was born in Manhattan, NY on May 28, 1935, to Arnold and Gerda Peterson (nee Anderson). She was pre-deceased by her husband and love of her life, Daniel A. Desmond in 1995, her sisters Ann Koch and Geraldine Peterson and her grandson USMC Cpl. Zachary J. Whitcavitch.
Alice loved life and lived it to the fullest. Early in life Alice was a talented dressmaker and made a lot of her own clothes, later on making her daughters’ prom dresses and clothing. She worked most of her life in the hospitality business doing catering for one of NY’s top firms, where she met her husband Dan. They moved to Miami Beach, Fl, marrying in 1964. They eventually moved to Rutherford, NJ where they raised their six children. They later moved to Morrisville, VT in 1981 where they pursued their dream of owning and running the Crimson King Motel. Vermont is where Alice was able to really get out and enjoy cross country skiing right out her door and ice skating on the local pond. Alice and Dan retired in 1994 moving to Gulf Shores, AL. She returned to Marlboro, NJ after the death of her husband in 1995, working at Nordstrom’s till she was 82!
Alice could brighten up a room by just walking in and her laugh could cheer even the saddest person. She loved to travel, always ready to pack her bags and jump on a train, plane or automobile. Alice was proud of her Swedish heritage and treasured the times she could travel to Sweden to visit family. She enjoyed a nice glass of wine, the best of food and loved a good single malt to finish off the evening. When surrounded by friends and family, Alice was the life of the party picking up a pair of spoons and performing to whatever music was playing.
Alice will be forever missed by her children Patricia and her husband Frank Zeppieri, Michael and his wife Joyce Desmond, Colleen and her husband Dave Mercado, Kelly and her husband Tom Whitcavitch, Daniel A. Desmond, Jr., and William and his wife Kim Desmond, her grandchildren, Brian Noe and his fiancée Samantha Pirnat, Robert Noe, Kristin Desmond and her significant other Edward Ortiz, Jr., Edwin Olsen and his fiancée Danielle Pacillo, Kayce Angel Whitcavitch, and Daniel Thomas Desmond, great grandchildren, Edward Ortiz, III, Marcus Zarate, and Gianni Olsen. Alice will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
