Obituary for Allan Stopherd

Allan Stopherd,77, long time resident of Rutherford, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021. Born in Newark to John and Maud (nee Pennington) Stopherd.

Allan originally worked as a machinist for Regan Precision Industry. He eventually earned enough college credits which enabled him to teach Machine Shop at Kearny High School, for 25 years.

Allan’s passion was fishing on his boat. One of his favorite boats was called “Time Out”, a 28 ft Dolphin. He was a good fisherman who really enjoyed spending time catching fluke and stripers. He mostly loved fishing trips with his sons. Allan was a good man, a wonderful husband and father. He was quiet and reserved, a gentleman having nothing bad to say about anyone. He valued and loved his family and raising two great sons with his wife Kathy.

Allan will be missed by his devoted and loving wife Kathy (nee Caggiano) of over 50 years, his sons Peter and his wife Corrie Kemple, Ian and his girlfriend Janet Bohn, his step grandchildren, Landon and Kyla Kemple and his brother John. He is predeceased by his brother James.

Family will receive friends Tuesday 4pm to 8pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Funeral Wednesday gathering 10:30am in the Funeral Home for 11:00am Prayer Service, followed by Interment in Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.
