Obituary for Amelia R. Parnofiello

Amelia R. Parnofiello passed away in her longtime Rutherford home on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the age of 103.

Born to Lucia (Sena) and Secondo Rotunno and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Amelia attended Manual Training High School and became a dental assistant.

Amelia married her husband, Anthony Parnofiello, on January 24, 1943 and settled in Rutherford, where they raised their family. The couple was married for 58 years. Prior to his passing, the couple enjoyed NYC activities, the Jersey Shore, and visiting family.

Amelia lived in her beloved home for 73 years.  She was an avid reader and member of the “Friends of the Rutherford Library”.  She was considered a master cook and enjoyed serving her special dishes for family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards with her Pokeno group, and in her quiet time, she relaxed with needlepoint.

Amelia was blessed with a long and healthy life. She was fortunate to witness and be an active part of her large, and growing, family. In turn, her extended family and friends received the gift of Amelia well into their adult years.

Amelia is predeceased by her son, Anthony (2004). She will be deeply missed by her son James and wife Kathleen, son John and wife Dianne, Anthony's former wife Kimberly, her 7 grandchildren; Joe and wife Laine, Anne and husband Steve, Kathryn and husband Luke, Michael and wife Sarah, John Joseph and wife Suzette, John Christian and wife Adrianne, James, 11 great-grandchildren; Anthony, Alexander, Maxwell, Owen, Maddie, Wilder, Oakley, Oscar, Serena, Leonora and Jack, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her 4 siblings: Christine Monaco, Michelina Seddo, Immaculata Rotunno and James Rotunno.

Family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-8pm at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford, NJ.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, gathering at 10:00 am at the funeral home and departing thereafter for Entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington.
