Obituary for Anna Bruno

Bruno, Anna (nee Campanella) 94, born in Jersey City on November 23, 1927 of Rutherford, formerly of Jersey City passed away peacefully on Saturday March 12, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late John R. Bruno. She was predeceased from her brother Joseph. Anna is survived by her two children Deborah and son John, five grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren.
Anna was born and raised in Jersey City before moving to Rutherford to finish school, get married and raise a family. Anna was employed in her early years as a seamstress, and a factory worker before accepting a position as the secretary for the late Congressman Henry Helstoski, Representing the 36th legislative district.
Anna’s mom, Antoinetta (Carli) came to the United States from Florence, Italy, and Anna’s dad, Joseph Campanella, came to the US from Palermo, Sicily. He settled in Jersey City where he owned and operated a successful bakery, “Campanella’s Bakery” on Fifth Street and Monmouth Avenue.

Anna’s first child is Deborah whom she adored. Deborah later married Craig Brown and had their first child, Craig Jonathan Brown and second son Christopher Jason Brown. Craig married Marissa and brought two beautiful boys into the world Nicholas and Noah. Christopher Jason married Marla together they brought Matteo and Giovanni into the world.

Anna's second child, her superman, is John. Anna’s son John married Donna and brought Jonathan Jacqueline and GiannaCarli into the world.
Jonathan married Lisa and brought Johnny Nicola into the world. Jacqueline married Brandon and brought Giavanna and Gianluca into the world. GiannaCarli married Andrew and brought Joseph and Vincent into this world.

Anna’s true passion was her family, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved traveling, cooking, planting flowers and growing plants, all in that order. She especially enjoyed attending her children, grandchildren’s and greatgrandchildren’s sporting events.
She even liked to attend NY Yankee and Seton Hall games as well.
If there was an event for one of the kids, you could expect trays of her delicious brownies to be delivered.
To know Mom was to love her and she will be missed by so many.
Friends are invited to meet on Wednesday, March 16th in the Church of St. Mary, 91 Home Ave., Rutherford for a Mass of Christian Liturgy at 12:00pm.
