Obituary for Anthony "TJ" Tarantino III

It breaks our hearts to announce the passing of our son, brother, uncle and friend Anthony “TJ” Tarantino III, on May 3rd 2022.

TJ was born in New York City, NY and raised in Rutherford NJ, where he attended Rutherford Public Schools. He graduated from Western Connecticut University with a Bachelor's degree in communications. He started his career in 2007 at homeland security as an ICE agent where he spent the next 15 years. TJ was loved by many during this time.

TJ was an outstanding and celebrated athlete. He began his athletic accomplishments as nationally ranked BMX rider which he started at the age of 5. TJ, #32, went on to play football, basketball and baseball. He was inducted into the Rutherford High School Athletic Hall of fame for his participation in the 2000 Bergen County championship team, as a 1st baseman and leading his team in homeruns.

TJ later became a huge part of the local car racing community. He was undefeated (perhaps in his own mind?) in any race with his prized Jeep Trackhawk AKA SleepHawk.

He was an avid snowboarder and loved hunting and fishing with his father and uncle, but TJ was most happy spending time together with his friends and family. He loved spending summers at his beach house in Manasquan and made friends everywhere he went (even at 711).

TJ is predeceased by his loving Father Anthony Tarantino Jr., affectionately known as Tazz. He is survived by his adoring Mother, Maureen Tarantino, his heartbroken Sister, Gambel and Brother in Law, Kevin McCarthy, his loving nieces and Goddaughters, Livia and Brielle, his loving Godfather, Anthony Pieroni and wife Lydia. He is also survived by his beloved dogs (sons to him) Tazz and Kane along with countless friends and family who cherished him greatly.

My dear brother, thank you for the love and laughs you have given me and mommy and daddy all these years. You were my protector my whole life.
You made us the proudest people on earth just because you were ours. Your nieces and Kevin adored you as did Tazz and Kane. Life will never be the same with out you. I love you, TJ

Family will receive friends Tuesday May 10th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Calhoun-Mania funeral home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford NJ. Funeral Mass, Wednesday May 11th at 10:30 am in the Church of St Mary, 91 Home Ave., Rutherford NJ. Interment Fairview Cemetery in Fairview NJ.
