Obituary for Ashley McHugh (Chadwell)

Ashley Danielle McHugh (Chadwell)

February 10, 1983 - September 4, 2021 (Rutherford, New Jersey)
Ashley Danielle McHugh, age 38, passed away peacefully, shortly after she and Chaplin Kim prayed for her to receive peace and comfort. Ashley was not alone as she took her final breath just as the sun was rising Saturday, September 4, 2021, at VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit at the Campus of St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital.

Ashley was born Thursday, February 10, 1983, in Redland, California. At age 8, Ashley’s family moved to Dexter, Kansas where she attended Primary and Secondary School before attending Cowley Community College in Arkansas City.

Ashley served 4.5 years in the Navy aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) which was a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship, as an Interior Communications Electrician, stationed out of San Diego, California. A Den Leader of 5 years for Rutherford Cub Scouts Pack 168 and a member of the Event Leadership Team with Relay For Life of Rutherford and Clifton, New Jersey.

Ashley was a beautiful and vibrant soul who truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; music (especially Pink), crafting, chatting with family and friends, her dogs, love of Mexican food and bright coloring of her hair in pinks, purples and luminous colors to capture a mood she was feeling. Ashley had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

She is survived by her husband, Christian; son Liam, 10; daughter Kayleigh, 4; father Gary Chadwell; mother, Jamie Harden; twin brothers Dillon and Matthew Chadwell; sister Leslye Chadwell and brother in-law James Halter, niece Brailey and nephew Bradley Halter; and many uncles, aunts and cousins

Family, friends and others whose lives Ashley has touched, are invited to share a memory and post photos to her memory wall at Calhoun Mania Funeral Home web page to reminisce, honor, grieve and support each other in a way that the family and all who loved Ashley can remember her.
