Carl R., 90, of Rutherford passed away December 24th.
Carl was born 1922 in Pittsfield Mass. to Charles H. Maak and Margaretha (Nee Harz).
He was employed by New York Telephone Co. in New York for the Sales/Consulting and Engineering Dept. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. His passion was his large organic garden, before organic gardening was popular; he proudly shared his vegetables and fruits with everyone he knew. He made apple cider and often had Grammar school children over to show how it was made. He also enjoyed reading and completing the New York Times crossword puzzles, daily.
Carl is predeceased by his wife Gladys (nee Campen),(2011). His family meant more to him than anything else in life.
He will be sadly missed by his son; William Maak and his wife Lucy,his son Carl R. Maak, his daughter Margaret Williams (nee Maak) and her husband William J.Williams and Virginia Bongort(nee Maak), predeceased by his son-in-law Ted Bongort (2001)
He loved and enjoyed his 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grand children. He was one of 14 children; 6 siblings are predeceased and Carl is survived by 7 siblings.

Family and friends will be received Friday 1-3pm and 7-9pm (Naval Honor Guard Service) in the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford, NJ
