Obituary for Carlos Mendoza

Carlos Mendoza, 71, of Lyndhurst, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022. He was one of eight children born to Jose & Alejandra Mendoza in Bogota, Columbia.
Carlos immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s for a better life and lived in various areas of New Jersey. He started by working odd end jobs until he started his own window replacement business. It was his smile and friendly persona that won him many friends and clients especially in Hudson County. He met his spouse Maria (nee Leon) in the late 1980s and together they built a beautiful life in the US. First in Weehawken and then in Lyndhurst. He was always a hard worker who never complained and would only rest on Sundays. If he had any leisure time he could be found reading his western paperback novels (pistolitas), listening to classic Colombian cumbia music or watching nature documentaries. He was a family man whose greatest joy were his grandchildren.
Carlos will be profoundly missed by his loving family - his wife, Maria; his children Diana Jimenez and husband Pedro, Alejandra Mendoza, Jessica Glackin and husband Tommy, Carlos Franco, Ursula Mitchell and husband Christopher, Viviana Silva and husband Christopher. His 10 beautiful grandchildren - Thomas, Dana, Evan, Gabby, Sara, Lucas, Amanda, Rafael, Peyton, Joaquin. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters residing in Bogota as well as many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, February 7th, from 4pm to 8pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Funeral Mass of Christian Liturgy will be offered on Tuesday, February 8th, at 10am in Sacred Heart Church, 324 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst.
Interment will be Private at the request of the family.
