Catherine Veronica (nee Punzie) 87, of Rutherford, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2010. Catherine (Kay) was born in Jersey City, NJ to Frank and Catherine (nee Balascio) on January 24, 1923. Kay was happily married to her husband of over fifty years Andrew J. Karpiak, who passed away on December 20, 1999. Kay lived in Rutherford until the 1980's when she and her husband Andrew retired to South Carolina. She spent the last 2-1/2 yrs in Gig Harbor, WA. Kay had a great love for children & dogs. She also enjoyed knitting in her spare time. She is survived by three Nephews: William Sauthoff & his wife Karen of Puyallup, WA, Robert Sauthoff & his wife Karen of Surfside Beach,SC & Edward Sauthoff of Puyallup, WA . She leaves behind one great niece: Lisa Price of Union, NJ and her husband Kevin; and four Great Nephews: Scot Ordway of Surfside Beach, SC and his wife Jessica and Great Great Niece Alexa Lee; William Sauthoff of Thorton,CO; Eric Sauthoff of Myrtle Beach,SC and Cory Sauthoff of Surfside Beach, SC. Friends will be received on Sunday, June 6th 3-7pm at Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue Rutherford, NJ. The funeral Monday June 7th at 9:am Prayer Service 10am at Collins-Calhoun FH.
