Obituary for Costas "Mike" Mehos Jr.
C.A. “Mike” Mehos Jr. 87, of Rutherford, N.J. passed away on Thursday, May 6th surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Albany, New York to Costas and Mary (Moore), Mike was raised in Pittsfield, Mass. and attended Boston University where he met the love of his life Constance.
After serving in the U.S. Army for 2 years as 1st Lieutenant, Mike began a long career in corporate management which relocated his growing family a number of times. The young family eventually settled in Rutherford, N.J. where they lived for 53 years and raised four children. Mike's career included 10 productive years with General Electric and later Brinks in Connecticut for 35 years, retiring in 2003.
Mike was a DIY guy, handy with tools and was always working on improving his home. He was an avid Giants fan, a fabulous cook, and loved his precious family more than anything in the world.
He was the patriarch of the family and will be sadly missed.
Mike is survived by his adoring wife Constance of 64 years, his children; Michael and his wife Janice, Christopher and his partner Kathryn Watson, Lisa and the late Joseph (April, 2021); his cherished granddaughters, Tatiana and Lauren Mehos, who will miss “Papou” greatly. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Gloria Prince and her husband Bill; his brother- in- law Arthur Nichols (pre-deceased by his late sister Patricia Nichols).
Visiting for family and friends will be held at Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford N.J. on Wednesday, May 12th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Liturgy will take place on Thursday, May 13th at 11:00am in the Church of Saint Mary, 91 Home Ave, Rutherford, N.J. followed by Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst, N.J.
If so desired, donations in Mike’s memory may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org)
The funeral Mass for Thursday will be live streamed from the Church of Saint Mary.
