Obituary for Daniel F Sullivan

Daniel F. Sullivan, 84 of Highlands NJ, formerly of Rutherford, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Born in Jersey City to William and Marilouise (nee Coyle) Sullivan. Daniel was raised in Rutherford graduating from St. Mary High School in 1957. He began his working career starting in law enforcement establishing a position as a Police Officer in the Paramus Police Dept. for 4 years. Changing occupations, he took a position with the Meadowland Sports Complex where he ultimately became the site superintendent. He remained there for 26 years, before retiring.  While at the Sports complex, he was the personal escort of dignitaries and “well known” people during Pro football games. He was often seen at the end zone on the football field during the Giants games. A special coworker at the Sports complex caught his attention, Karen, whom he began a romantic relationship with and later became his wife which transformed his life for the next 30 years. Daniel’s great past time was playing golf with his buddies at his favorite golf course, the Jumping Brook.

Daniel was very proud to be Irish, he loved shamrocks, St. Patrick’s Day was his favorite day of the year.

 Daniel is predeceased by his brother William Sullivan, He is survived by his devoted wife Karen, his children; Daniel Sullivan, Marilouise Sullivan Mullen, Christine Cronin and husband Joseph, Joanne McDaniel and husband Jim, Joseph Sullivan and Timothy Sullivan, grandchildren; Bridget Mullen, Regan Cronin, Tyler Cronin, William Brumbaugh, Brian Mullen, Maya Sullivan, his sister Marilouise Sullivan and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family will receive friends Friday December 8 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford. Private Cremation.
