Dorothy (nee Strickland), age 82, of Rutherford,
died Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Dorothy was born
in Wallington, grew up in Carlstadt, and was a graduate of
East Rutherford High School (1947). She made her home in
Rutherford for more than forty years and made her life-long
career at Bell Telephone. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish,
its Rosary Society and was an enthusiastic member of St. Mary's Choir.
Dorothy was married to the late Anthony Checki, who passed
on from this life in March of 2011. She is
survived by a daughter Christine Disney, of New York City,
a grandson Nicholas Disney of Melville, Long Island, and a
great-grandson Sam Natal-Disney, of Rutherford. Visiting at
Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford,
NJ (201.939.1050), on Sunday, Dec. 16 from 4-8PM. Friends
and family are asked to gather at St. Mary's Church, 22 Home Avenue,
Rutherford for a funeral mass on Monday Dec. 17 at 9:30AM, followed
immediately thereafter by entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum,
340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ. The family requests that
in lieu of flowers donations be made in Dorothy's name
to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place,
Memphis, TN 38105.
