Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty " Lapine
Elizabeth “Betty” Lapine, 81, of East Rutherford, passed away at home surrounded by her family, Wednesday, July 28, 2021. She was born to Philip Caffrey and Margaret (nee Collins) Caffrey in NYC, NY.
She was employed for over 30 years in the administrative office of St. Francis Academy in Union City and very involved in their fundraisers and Social Events, before retiring. She loved to shop, go to plays and dine in restaurants. She also enjoyed trips to Monmouth Racetrack. Most important was her time spent with her loving family.
Betty is predeceased by her husband Donald G. Lapine (2011). She will be missed by her devoted son Donald Lapine, 7 nieces and nephews; Dorothy Feeney (the late Kenny Feeney), Edward and his wife Sheila, Thomas Caffrey, Patricia Caffrey, Maureen Ayres, Cathleen Murphy and husband Dennis, Philip Caffrey and wife Kathleen, 7 great-nieces and great-nephews; Jennifer Caffrey and husband Sam, Thomas Caffrey and wife Shay, Matthew Murphy and wife Elizabeth, David Ayres, Kevin Murphy, Kathryn Caffrey and Krisanne Caffrey. She is predeceased by her 4 siblings and their spouses; Edward and his wife Adele, Thomas and his wife Grace, Philip and his wife Jeanne, and Margaret and her husband Anthony.
Family will receive friends Friday 4-8pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford. Funeral Saturday 9am from Funeral Home for 10am Mass of Christian Liturgy in Assumption Church, Wood-Ridge, followed by Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elizabeth’s name to St. Francis Academy, 1601 Central Avenue, Union City NJ 07087.
The Lapine family request that for their visitors wearing a mask, is optional.
