Higgins, Florence( nee McGuire) ,age 82, passed away on July 1, 2009. Born in Chicago, Ill., she later moved to Rutherford, N.J. where she lived for over 40 years and then recently moved to Pompton Plains. Florence was formerly an active member of St. Mary's parish and the Rutherford Women's Club. She also worked in the Rutherford Public Library for many years. Florence was the beloved wife of Patrick Higgins and devoted mother of Kathy Steckler, Patty Gazdowicz, Brian Higgins, Mary Ellen Higgins-Gonzalez, Kevin Higgins, Barbara McCallion, Sheila Bedard and Tom Higgins. She was also the cherished grandmother of 17 grandchildren. Florence enjoyed being surrounded by her large family and her loving support will be missed by all. Visitation will be held on Sat. and Sun.,July 4 and 5, from 4-7 at the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home,19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Rutherford on Monday, July 6 at 9:30 a.m.
