DeMeskey, Francis "Dee", 84, of Rutherford, formerly of Jersey City, died on January 11, 2011. Francis was born August 13, 1926 to Francis and Mary (nee Kelly) DeMeskey. He was a World War II Veteran who served with the United States Navy and the United States Army. Before retiring in 1990, Dee worked at PSE&G for more than 40 years.
He was a proud member of many local organizations, VFW Post 227 Rutherford, American Legion # 109, and a Charter Member of the Hawthorne Cabs. He was also a parishioner of the Church of St. Mary's, Rutherford.
What Dee enjoyed most and took pride in was spending many hours caring for the grounds at Lincoln Park, Rutherford where he has a flag pole dedicated to his memory and untiring efforts in keeping the park beautiful.
He is survived by his wife of 60years Ann (nee Pronti) and his children: Judy Ann Novack and husband William. Dee is predeceased by his son Mark (2005), his brother Thomas and sister Margaret. Dee was a loving grandfather to Frank and his girlfriend Stephanie Moran and a dear friend to June Depew.
Friends will be received on Friday, January 14, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm in the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave. Rutherford.
Funeral will be held on Saturday, January 15 for a 10:00am Mass of Christian Liturgy in Church of St. Mary, Rutherford. Interment: Holy Cross Mausoleum, North Arlington. The Family encourages memorial contributions to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
