Frank Narucki passed away on April 30, 2020, at the Actors Fund Home in Englewood. Frank was born to Frank and Genevieve (nee Urbanski) in Jersey City and lived his entire life in New Jersey. He is predeceased by his brothers Richard and Edward and nephew Scott. He is survived by his sister Rose Marie; nieces Judy and Arline; nephews Ronald, Edward, Robert, and Wayne.
Frank graduated as valedictorian for the class of 1952 from Ferris High School in Jersey City and attended Juilliard School of Music. He then served in the Army and Army reserves.
Frank was a very accomplished musician from an early age, appearing on the Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour - the original “American Idol” - at the age of 15. Though the clarinet was his instrument of choice, he also played the alto and baritone saxophones, oboe, piccolo, and flute (nearly all of the woodwinds). He played many genres of music, but mostly big band, classical, and polka. He played with the Bob Nevins Band, Stas Jaworski and His Orchestra, and the Whitehouse Wind Symphony, to name just a few. His last performance was with Bob Leive and the Wooster Street Trolley Band, playing some hoppin’ dixieland jazz at the Deer Head Inn.
Frank’s curiosity and intellectual ability were only dwarfed by his witty sense of humor, which always made us roll our eyes and smile. Frankie, you will be missed.
Please consider donating to the Whitehouse Wind Symphony in his memory.
