Obituary for George T Szymczak, Esq.

George Szymczak was a first-generation American, born of Polish parents who survived World War II including time in Nazi prison camps. He was a proud graduate of Xavier High School in New York, Fordham University, and Seton Hall Law School, and went on to practice law for 40 years. Starting his career at the firm of Swirsky & Swirsky, he opened his own practice in 1994 in Rutherford, N.J. George was an avid soccer fan. Blue was the colour each and every time he watched his beloved Chelsea FC. George ran the New York City Marathon five times, the Walt Disney World Marathon in 2017, and most recently, the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon in November 2022. George also enjoyed coaching his children’s soccer teams, traveling with his family, reading, and being a proud member of the Rutherford Lions. He was also proud to have attended Woodstock and loved to share his knowledge of music. George retired in 2020 to spend more time with his hobbies and family. 
He is predeceased by his beloved parents Albin and Sabina Szymczak, his brother Waldek Wnukowski, and his in-laws Neil and Alfreda Baker. He is survived by his loving wife Adele, daughter Alex Valentine, son Will, son-in-law Ian Valentine, daughter-in-law Sara, granddaughter Anne Jean, grandson Thomas Albin, his sister-in-law Alfreda Baker as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Family will receive friends Friday March 10th from 3:00 to 7:00pm at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.  Funeral Saturday gathering 9:30am in the funeral home for a 10:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy at the Church Saint Mary, Rutherford.  Interment St. Michael's Cemetery, 120 Saddle River Ave., South Hackensack.
