Obituary for Glen P. Celentano
Glen Peter Celentano, 61, of Rutherford, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2020.
He was born in Flushing NY to Peter and Gloria Celentano. Glen graduated Drew University Class of 81’. He later married his wife, Louise, and settled in Rutherford where they raised their 3 children. Glen was always a leader, from the time he was a young man and proud Eagle Scout.
During Glen’s loyal 36-year career at Citibank, he rose to the title of Senior VP of Commercial Banking for Citibank Manhattan. Not only did he lead Citibank-supported initiatives for the March of Dimes charity for premature children, but he was a personal contributor and organizer for an annual bowling fundraiser. Glen silently and diligently served on the Board of Directors for the Center for Hearing and Communication. Even with achieving so much and contributing in any way he could, he never bragged or boasted. He simply did what he could for whomever needed it most. With Monday through Friday reserved for Citibank, he saved his Sundays for football season, holding Jets season tickets for 20 years; he’ll always be known as a founder of the legendary tailgate in lot D3.
Even though Glen passed so young, he could not have built a better legacy. Glen has left such a profound impact on the lives that crossed his path; leaving footprints of kindness in each heart and greeting every single person with his warm and contagious smile. He showed all of us that that you do not need to share the same blood to be family. We will always remember you for your generosity, compassion, strength, kindness and the unconditional love you showed each and every one of us.
Glen’s legacy will continue through his beloved wife Louise, his loving children, Peter, Johanna and Michele, her husband Keith, grandchildren Charlston, Levi, and Easton. He will be surely missed by his siblings George, Barbara and Sandy, as well as all of his loving family and friends.
A Prayer Service will be offered in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home. All Services and Final disposition will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the March of Dimes or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
