Obituary for Gloria Frio

Gloria Frio, 95, of Rutherford, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022. She was born one of six children to Dominick and Mary Migliaccio.

More than anything, Gloria loved spending time with her family and her many friends.  Taking trips with her friends, visiting her brothers and sisters, and vacationing with her family were among her favorite things to do.  She particularly loved her annual summer vacation to the Outer Banks with her husband, her children and their spouses, and her grandchildren.

Gloria worked for over 20 years for NCCI in Lyndhurst, but she most enjoyed being a homemaker.   She was known for keeping a perfect home. Gloria enjoyed playing cards, particularly kings-in-the-corners and canasta.   A life-long Yankees fan, she often spoke fondly about how she would watch the Yankees with her dad when she was growing up.  She was known to say often “what’s wrong with those Yankees,” after a loss, even when the team was in first place.   She also loved football and looked forward to watching Sunday football on TV with her family.  For many years, Gloria was the loudest person in the stands at Rutherford High School football games.   She was truly a part of the Rutherford community, known for her kindness, laughter, and smile.

Gloria was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Anthony “Tony” Frio (2019), and by her siblings Mary Ferrara, Frances Tabano, Phyllis Glinbizzi, Joseph Migliaccio and Ralph Migliaccio.

Gloria forever will be missed by her daughter Donna Smith and husband Brian, her son Frank and his wife Gigi, her grandchildren Emma Frio, Erik Kwitchoff, Lauren McKowen and husband Matt, and her great grandchildren Madison McKowen and Jack McKowen.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3 to 7pm at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.

Funeral Thursday 9:30am from Funeral Home for 10:30 am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford, followed by Entombment at Holy Cross
