Obituary for Helen Fuentes

Helen Fuentes, 91, of Bowmansville, PA, passed away after a brief illness on, April 10, 2020
Helen was born and bred an Irish Jersey girl from Elizabeth to John J. Cullen, Sr. and Helen (Lutz) Cullen.

She would fall in love with a fellow also from Elizabeth named Joseph Fuentes. They were married in 1947 and had a beautiful marriage for seventy-one years. Helen and Joseph lived in Garwood from 1956 to 1989. They finally settled in Bowmansville, Pennsylvania in 1989, where they lived in a quaint neighborhood near their son Kevin and his wife Karen. With their neighbors and friends, they loved going bowling and playing lightning rounds of gin rummy. She loved watching the Golden Girls and Jeopardy and would've been a better than average contestant.

Helen loved Angels, and Angel knickknacks adorned their house. She always wore an Angel pin on her blouse or coat.
She really enjoyed and looked forward to her holiday outings and dinners, along with family and friends, with her son, Rick, and his wife, Eileen, in New Jersey.

Helen and Joe were big fans of the New Jersey State Police. She loved attending all of the “Family Days” and other NJSP annual events. She rarely missed a Pub Night fundraiser for the State Police bagpipe band. Their hats and outerwear were all emblazoned with the NJSP emblem.

Helen is predeceased by her husband Joseph (2018); her brothers, John J., Jr., Robert and Edward; and, her sister, Myrtle. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph R. (Rick) and Eileen, and Kevin T. and Karen; grandchildren, William T. and Alyssa Fuentes, Jennifer L. and Ryan Ink; and, great-grandchildren, Lyric G. Fuentes and Logan M. Ink.

Helen and her husband Joe were true to their love for each other and faith, passing away two years apart on Good Friday. They are now together again in heaven, along with the family she grew up with.

Private Burial on Tuesday.
A "Celebration of life' will be scheduled at a later date.
