Suruda Henry, age 83 longtime resident of Rutherford passed away on October 29,2010. Henry was born June 25,1927 in Jersey City to Vincent and Josephine (nee Suruda) Aksztulewicz. He was an active coach and umpire for the Rutherford little league baseball , basketball teams and was active in youth sports-recreation and was known to all the kids as "Helpful Henry". He was a World War II Veteran served as a Staff Sgt in the US Army 1st Calvary and was stationed in the Pacific Theater. He was awarded the Victory metal. Before retiring in 1996, Henry was a Design Draftsman for 32 years at Curtis Wright, Wallington. He is survived by his wife Eleanore (nee Winiarski) and his Daughter Judy Ruvo and Husband Thomas, his sister, Helen Heindel and brothers Ted, Jim and Joe Malecki. Henry was a loving Grandfather to Christopher and wife Jessica, Michael and wife Allison, Thomas John who is currently serving in the US Army and 4 Great Grandchildren, Michael Daniel ,Cassidy Angelique, Luke Thomas , and newborn Dylan Christopher.
Funeral Wednesday 9:30am Nov 3rd, from the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home,19 Lincoln Ave. Rutherford, followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of St. Mary, Rutherford . Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington NJ.
