Herbert L.  Cutter
Herbert L. Cutter of Rutherford passed away peacefully June 2, 2011.
Herbert was born 12/14/1919 in Port Jervis, N.Y. to Mary (nee Schwaner) and Herbert S. Cutter. He graduated from East Rutherford High School, attended and graduated from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University, National Mortgage School at Ohio State University and NJ School of Public Relations at Princeton University.
Herbert was married to the late Erna L Grossbolin in 1946 (Died 1995). They had two daughters Renee Gilbert and her husband Ron, Laura Wusyk and her husband Stan. Cherished Grandfather of 1 Grandson, 3 Granddaughters, 2 Great Grandsons and 2 Great Granddaughters. Brother to Isabella Fahr, Marilyn Thompson, Late Beverly Allred and Late Shirley Mulder
He was formerly employed by National Community Bank (Now JP Morgan Chase) for 42 years retiring in 1982 as Vice President and Manager of the Rutherford office. Formerly engaged as a Sale Representative for Columns Realty in Rutherford.
Herbert served in the US Air Force during World War II.
Served American Institute of Banking on County, State and National levels and taught banking courses for many years.
Past Director and Executive Secretary to the Rutherford Chamber of Commerce which he served as President for 4 terms.
Was honored as "Man of the Year" in 1966 by the Rutherford Chamber of Commerce.
Served with Rutherford Volunteer Ambulance Corps as Captain and President. Past President of the Kiwanis Club, Rutherford Community Chest director 24 years, and past President and Treasurer of the Bergen County Chapter of the American Heart Association. September 22nd, 2010 was made Herbert Cutter Day in Rutherford for distinguished service for the Rutherford Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of East Rutherford serving as Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent, and also served on the Board of Trustees and Administrative Council.
Served on many Borough of Rutherford Committees such as Mayoral Advisory Committees, helped build the Hutzel Band shell, and worked on the resurrection of the Old Rivoli Theater as the William Carlos Center for the Performing Arts.
Former member of Rutherford Elks Lodge. Current member of Boiling Springs Lodge # 152 for over 50 years. Current member of the Grand Royal Arch-Masons and Current Member of Bergen Community Knights Templar.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00pm at Collins Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford. Funeral Monday 9:30am followed by a Prayer Service at 10:30am. Interment Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.
