Howard R.  Petrie
Howard Rutherford Petrie, 90, lifetime resident of Rutherford, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17th, 2014, in Hackensack Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. Howard was born in Hackensack and was the beloved son of Archibald and Bessie Petrie.
Howard lived a full life. A graduate of Columbia University, he was a proud US Navy Veteran (1944-1946) during WWII. He spent his career as Chief Engineer for electric substations at PSE&G Headquarters in Newark. Howard was an avid woodworker who had produced countless wall & grandfather clocks. He was a long time member and treasure of the Rutherford Bible Chapel in Rutherford. He loved traveling with his wife, having visited much of Europe as well as taking routine visits to Bermuda.
Howard is survived by his loving wife Jean (nee Haddow) of 65 years, his daughters, Alison Heinzel and her husband Thomas of Rutherford, Miriam Smith and her husband David of Bridgeton, Marilyn Loych and her husband Thomas of Harrisburg, PA, his 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother Ferdinand Petrie (2007).

Family will receive friends & loved ones on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm & Prayer Service 8pm; Rev.Gerard DeMatteo officiating, held in the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home , 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Private Burial.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Rutherford Bible Chapel, 102 E.Van Ness Ave., Rutherford, NJ, 07070
