Irene M. (nee Worst), 93, of East Rutherford passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2015. Irene was born in Jersey City in 1921. She had met the love of her life George, whom she was married to for 61 years. George predeceased her in 2002. Together they worked along side each other and lived a happy life, raising their family with love, integrity and a strong faith in God. Irene was a kind, loving woman who never hesitated to help those in need with a place to stay, a warm meal or just a hand to hold or a ear to listen. She cherished her entire family. She will be deeply missed by her children: Irene Alane and her husband Robert Finnerty, George Jr. and his wife Carol, Robert and his wife Donna, Thomas and his wife Marie, Joseph and his wife Donna Marie and Beverly Blauvelt, her youngest daughter; her 10 grandchildren: Laura Finnerty Paul, David & Deanna Finnerty Linda (Finnerty) and Richard O'Leary, Kathryne (Blauvelt) & James Marinchak, Andrew and Tonya Blauvelt, Allison (Blauvelt) and John DePinto, Stacy Blauvelt, Julia Blauvelt, Emma Blauvelt, James Blauvelt and her 10 great-grandchildren: Olivia and Matthew Paul, Robert, James, John and Mary Finnerty, Joan, Georgia and Victoria O'Leary, and Ariana Blauvelt. Along with many loving nieces, nephews and a large extended family and friends. Thank you all for loving her.
Funeral on Friday 8:30 a.m. from the Calhoun-Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford for 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, 91 Home Street, Rutherford, NJ.
Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, No.Arlington.
Family will receive friends Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, envelopes will be available for charitable donations in Irene's name to The Dominican Sisters of Caldwell, The American Cancer Society, and Sacred Heart Grammar School, Jersey City, NJ or the charity of your choice.
