James V. DeLillo Sr. age 83 of Rutherford passed away Sunday after a short illness. James was a long time resident of Rutherford and a devoted parishioner of the Church of Saint Mary. Born in Passaic in 1928 to Helen and Leonard DeLillo, he was pre-deceased by his parents and five siblings: Florence, Loretta, Adrianna, Michael (Pat) DeLillo and Helen. James was a WWII veteran having served in the Merchant Marines assigned to the Wilson Victory ships. A talented and well-respected tradesman, Mr. DeLillo was a member of Pipefitters Local 274 for over 40 years.

James was a member of UNICO. He loved to sing and was an avid fan of Barbershop Quartet and the Irish Tenors. He enjoyed participating in activities at the Kipp Senior Center. James also loved to travel and spend summers in California with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his quick wit and piercing blue eyes.

Mr. DeLillo is survived by daughter Maryann DeLillo Virack of California, and son James Jr. of Oakland NJ as well as daughters Darlene DeLillo and Cheryl Forst and sons Michael and Robert DeLillo; grandchildren Walt Virack, Kristi Virack Beneventi, Benjamin DeLillo, Melissa and Jessica Forst and Robert DeLillo Jr. and great-grandson Niko Beneventi.
Funeral took place on Thursday 9:00am from The Collins Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue Rutherford followed by 9:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy in Corpus Christi Church , 260 Boulevard, Hasbrouck Heights. Entombment: St. Nicholas Cemetery in Lodi.
