Janet Brigham, 96, of Rutherford passed away Saturday May 17th, 2014. She was born in NYC to Theodore and Edith Brigham in 1917. Janet was raised in Greenport, Long Island before moving to Rutherford in 1938. She attended Trapphagen School of Design, currently known as the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) while working under Henri Bendel; the first retailer to bring design to “Coco Channel”. Later she was employed at Fairleigh Dickenson University Rutherford Campus. Her generous efforts as a volunteer included Rutherford Community Chest, Presbyterian Woman’s Guild, The Red Cross & Food Pantry. She was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in Rutherford for 67 yrs. She was especially interested in the Creative Arts.
Janet is predeceased by her 1st husband, John Quincy Adams and 2nd husband William Arnott. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Douglas Adams, William and Kenneth Arnott and daughter Virginia Young, her beloved 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends and loved ones are gathering Friday 10:45am followed by 11:00am Memorial Service in the Sanctuary of The First Presbyterian Church, One East Passaic Avenue, Rutherford.
