Life Story for Jeannette De Marco

Jeannette De Marco, 92, of Lyndhurst for 12 years, formerly of Rutherford, passed away Saturday December 17, 2022. Jeanette was born in Jersey City to Peter and Mildred (nee Gerard) De Carlo.

She and her husband Sam settled in Rutherford in 1965 where they raised their seven children. They traveled to almost every State of the United States in their 33-foot Motor home. Jeanette and Sam owned and operated De Marco's Bakery in Jersey City. When the bakery closed, they opened a service station in 1962 in Jersey City, which is currently owned and operated by 4 of her sons. She was the Private Secretary to the President of International Admissions at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Rutherford for 10 years, before retiring in 2002.

As a devoted parishioner of the Church of Saint Mary, she held the position of President of the Rosary Society. Jeanette was a special lady, a great cook and a great mother and grandmother. Her family was most important to her, and family Sunday dinners were an “event” where all were welcome to her “open house”.

Jeanette is predeceased by husband Sam (1990) she will be deeply missed by her 7 children: Libby and wife Pat, Sammy and wife Janne, Ann Marie De Marco, Danny and wife Dana, Peter, John and wife Lori, and Louis. Jeanette was blessed to have 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Ann Marie Vena and predeceased by brothers, Victor and Sal.

Family will receive friends Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Funeral Wednesday from Funeral Home 8:30am for 9:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford followed by Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, No. Arlington.
