John W. Rienstra, 73, of Rutherford, passed away Wednesday, 1/10/2024. He was the son of John and Ruth (nee Riley) Rienstra, born in Paterson, NJ.

John was a graduate of Rutgers University. He was both in sales and bookkeeping for Shoe-Inn, located in Ridgewood NJ.  John was an avid reader and loved listening to music. He enjoyed watching sports and HGTV. In warmer weather he would spend time in his garden, growing beautiful flowers and hearty vegetables. John also enjoyed car trips on Sundays with the family, saying “let’s go for a ride” ending up in places like Cooperstown or going “down the shore” to Ocean Grove, which he loved. John’s little pal was his dog, Stacy.

John will be missed by his devoted wife Susan, his son Michael and wife Lauren, his daughter Amanda Rienstra, his grandchildren, Emma and Ryan, his siblings, Ruth Ann Salmanowitz and husband James, Eleanor Ariemma, nieces and nephews, Brian and wife Laura, Douglas and wife Tina, Scott, John and Wife Alexis and great nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Monday 3:00pm to 7:00pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.  Funeral Tuesday 8:30am from funeral home for 9:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy in St. Joseph’s Church, 150 Hoboken Road, East Rutherford.
