John Henry Schenk, 91, a long time resident of Rutherford for 47 years passed away September 7, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. John proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a plank member on the USS Ashland (LSD-1) .Later he became a member of the Old Guard of Rutherford, the Lions Club and was an Auxiliary Police Officer in Rutherford. John was employed with Chase Manhattan Bank in NYC for 30 yrs. He was their Business Manager and retired in 1987.
John is predeceased by his wife Alice (nee Johansen) of 64 years (2012). He will be deeply missed by his beloved daughters; Laura TenEyck and her husband William, Carol Kuntz and her husband William and his beautiful grandchildren Miranda and Daniel . He is predeceased by his sisters Marion Schwerdtfeger and Annette Brennan.
Funeral: Friday 10:00am Service in the 1st Presbyterian Church, Rutherford. Please arrive in Funeral Home 9:00am.
Interment: Hazelwood Cemetery, 64 West Lake Avenue, Rahway.
Family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
