Obituary for John Joseph Talocco

John Joseph Talocco tragically passed away on April 29, 2022. John was born to the late Armando and Flor Maria Talocco, a restaurant owner and a teacher in Colombia, South America on February 1, 1950. He was a resident of Rutherford, NJ for twenty-five years.

John served our country for twenty-four years as a Soldier in the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War, for which he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star with valor medals. He served in Iraq and retired as a Sergeant from the New Jersey Army National Guard. John was also a NJ Transit bus driver for twenty years and most recently was driving for DeCamp Bus Lines.

John enjoyed classic cars and riding his motorcycle. He was kind and soft spoken and always had time to answer a question, solve a problem, tell a joke or share a story of his charismatic life.

John was blessed with a large and loving family. John is survived by his wife Victoria Talocco, his daughters April Pickard, Jennifer Carriel, Melissa Garcia and Susan Milici. His grandchildren Luciana and Christian Pickard, Timothy and Daphnie Carriel, Stephanie and Luis LaBoy, Samuel Vazquez, Ezekiel Elijah Garcia, Juliana Milici and his great-grandchildren Ali and Jad Shanata. He is also survived by his brothers Armando Talocco and George Rivera and his sisters Adele Poston, Mitchelle Shulz and Gina Verdibello. As well as his niece Cheryl Marchesani and her children Nicolas and Joey Marchesani. His nephew Michael Talocco and his children Dylan and Nicole Talocco and his nephew and godson Christopher Talocco.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be sadly missed by his loved ones.


Family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday May 4th, 2-4pm and 7-9pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home,19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Funeral Thursday 9:30am from Funeral home for 10:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy at the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford. Interment thereafter, at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
