Obituary for John Spero Zacharias
John Spero Zacharias – Husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend, altar boy, Korean War veteran, benefactor, executive - passed away peacefully on August 25, 2021 of complications from Alzheimer’s disease.
John grew up in Brooklyn, New York and, for most of his adult life, resided in Rutherford, New Jersey. He was a proud Rutherfordian and loved to spend time in New York City. John served as Senior Vice President, General Manager and member of the Board of Directors of Whatman Laboratory Products Inc. where he was employed for more than 35 years.
Most importantly, John was a devout Orthodox Christian, a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, father-in-law and an exemplary role model and trusted friend to those who knew him. He will be unfathomably missed, deeply mourned and eternally remembered.
Family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4pm & 7-9pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford, NJ. Funeral Service Monday 10am in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 818 Valley Rd., Clifton. Interment Hillside Cemetery, Lyndhurst.
