John R. Bruno – Rutherford

John was born from the union of Rose (Turano) Bruno and Frank Bruno both from Acri, Cosenza, Calabria, Italy.
John was raised in Nutley NJ one of 13 siblings. John was married to the love of his life Ann (Campanella) Bruno on October 9th; it will be 74 years of marriage.
John and Ann had 2 children Deborah (Bruno) Brown and John Bruno. John has (5) grandchildren, Craig Jonathan Brown, Christopher Jason Brown, Jonathan Joseph Bruno, Jacqueline (Bruno) Caroprese and Gianna Carli (Bruno) Dunn. John’s son in law Craig Preston Brown and daughter in law Donna (Azzolini) Bruno. John has (5) grandchildren in laws Craig’s wife Marissa, Chris’s wife Marla, Johanthan’s wife Lisa, Jacquelines husband Brandon and Gianna Carli’s husband Andrew. John has (9) greatgrandchildren. Nicholas, Noah, Matteo, Giovanni, Giavanna, Gianluca, Joseph, Vincent and Johnny.
John’s passion was his family from his loving wife Ann all the way to baby Vincent who met John in open arms at three days old a day before John passed.
No one loved his family more than John. His daughter Deborah was the best piano player and cheerleader in the world who married Craig a proud Vietnam vet who John loved and adored. John’s son John was the best lawyer and wrestler to walk the earth and his wife Donna was loved, admired, and appreciated by John since the day they met.
The grandkids were perfect. John never missed a game, a graduation, birthday, or holiday. C.J. (Craig) started it off raising beautiful Nick & Noah. Then Chris brought Matteo and Giovanni. All so special and loved.
Then Jacqueline brought Giavanna & Gianluca into the world. John loved them immensely. Then Gianna Carli brought Joseph and baby Vincent into the world that John was blessed to meet and hold and of course Johnny came into the world from Jonathan. Knowing that John now saw 4 generations of John Bruno’s was overwhelming. John loved all 9 and bragged about them each on a daily basis. His love for his family was immeasurable; they all loved him back. They spent summers, holidays, sporting events, and every important moment together. John’s loving family surrounded him at the time of his passing.
John’s other passions were traveling, vacations and politics. John & Ann visited 32 countries and shared beautiful memories from Italy, Spain, Turkey, Tahiti, France, Germany, and the list goes on and on. John loved his family trips to Turks and Caicos, Florida and Aruba, dozens of them.
John’s business and love was also for politics. When returned from World War II where he served his country with his 3 brothers, Louis, Carmen, and Frank, he returned to Nutley where he worked for Westinghouse Corp. for 30 years.
John was the proudest Veteran imaginable. John was honored at Yankee Stadium and at Seton Hall University basketball as the World War II veteran of the year.
John became involved with Governor Minor’s “Campaign for Governor” and Ken Gibson’s campaign mayor of Newark. From then on John founded his successful start of Bruno Associates, Grants consulting business that continues today run by his grandson Christopher.
John was respected in Washington and Trenton. He would be greeted like royalty for the rest of his life. He has photos with Pope’s, Presidents, Senators, Congressman, and hundreds of local officials. He loved the political world. It was fascinating to watch John work the room at political events. From starting from nothing to creating the most beautiful family and empire was a true story of success.
