O'Donoghue
John Francis, 87, of Rutherford, formerly of Jersey City, died on July 7, 2010. John was born October 17, 1922 to John Florence O'Donoghue and Mary Vail. He was a World War II Veteran who served with the United States Navy Construction Battalions, the "Seabees," in the Pacific. Before retiring in 1985, John was a Credit Manager for 30 years at Pantasote, Inc., Passaic.
He is survived by his wife Joan (nee Fitzpatrick) and his children: Eileen Bongiovanni and husband Joe, Sharon Vogel and husband Jerry, Denise O'Donoghue and husband Kristinn Johannsson, Sean O'Donoghue and wife Lisa, Nancy O'Donoghue, Patrick O'Donoghue and wife Darcie Eckert, Sheilagh O'Donoghue and husband Bill Manning. John was a loving grandfather to 19 grandchildren and great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren. His sister Mary O'Donoghue is deceased.
Friends will be received on Sunday, July 11, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm in the Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave. Rutherford.
Funeral will be held on Monday, July 12 for a 10:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy in Church of St. Mary, Rutherford. Cremation Private. The Family encourages memorial contributions to the Brain Bank, a facility that conducts research to further the medical understanding of neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease.
