Obituary for Karen C Fagan

Karen (Conahan) Fagan was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully on February 17, 2022, at the age of 78. She was born to Robert Conahan and Clara Doell on June 28th, 1943, she was raised by her Maternal Aunt, Irene S. Cullen.

Karen is survived by her brother, Robert Conahan, sister-in-law Barbara and sister Janet Fleming.

After graduating from high school, she met her husband, Lawrence Fagan. Karen and Larry had a beautiful marriage for 56 years. Together, they had 3 children: Larry II, Kathleen, and Suzanne. They raised their family in Lincoln Park, NJ while Karen worked for the Torter Corporation as an administrative secretary. Karen and Larry have 7 grandchildren: Sophia, Cullen, Lawson and Trip (Larry III) (Larry Fagan), Demi (Kathleen Toscano), Elizabeth and Lauren (Brian and Suzanne Rush).

Karen loved spending time in Cape May, NJ where they retired in 2003. Karen was an active participant in the Cape May community through the Soroptimist Society and the Garden club. Karen was always taking advantage of all the wonderful things that Cape May has to offer. Whether this was going to the beach, kayaking, horseback riding, fishing, crabbing, visiting the nature center, honoring the coast guard cadets, all with the love her husband, children, and grandchildren. Karen also had many friends that she loved dearly within the Cape May community. Karen had an adventurous spirit that always provided the spark for the joy of life for her children and grandchildren. She battled with cancer for over 20 years but never lost her love of life.


Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 23rd from 9:00 to 11:00am in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford. Funeral Mass to follow at 11:30am in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
