Kathleen Mathieu of Rutherford, New Jersey, passed away on April 23, 2023, with her family close by. Kathy was born in1949 to parents Joseph and Antoinette Yodzio and raised in Valley Stream, New York. She attended Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead and later graduated from Fordham University with a degree in Art History. This is where she met her future husband of 51 years.

Her work history included time at The General Hospital Center at Passaic and Englewood Hospital and Medical Center where she honed her marketing and public relations skills. She established her own consultancy in 1999 known as The Red Wagon Group. This continued to be her interest until retiring a few years ago.

She also contributed to local publications as a freelance writer.

She lived in Rutherford for over four decades. Over the years, she served as a volunteer with the Rutherford Community Blood Bank, Meadowlands Museum, and Friends of the Library.

She enjoyed gardening and traveling. Anywhere there was a museum was her destination. This included Paris (her favorite), England, Ireland, Rome, Montreal and elsewhere. She loved cooking and entertaining. Her home was the location of countless gatherings of family and friends over the years. She was blessed with many longtime friends, including some who remained close from her youth and the early days of parenthood.

She is survived by her husband Chris, her son Christopher, her daughter Emily Joy and son-in-law James, granddaughters Penelope and Opal, and sister Patricia.

A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, from 6 to 8 pm and Thursday from 10 am until noon at Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford, New Jersey.
