Obituary for Lori Happel (Garripoli)

Lori Anne Garripoli Happel was born on June 9, 1960 in Hackensack, NJ to Shirley and Frank Garripoli. She was the second of 9 children.

Lori attended and graduated Rutherford High School in 1978.

In 1985, Lori was joined in holy matrimony with Al Happel and had a son Christopher Happel in 1991. She was a loving and patient wife and a devoted mother who held her son in the highest regard.

Lori was an employee of Shoprite for over 15 years. She was known for her outstanding customer service and excellent hospitality.

While Lori was particularly close to her family members, her devotion extended to everyone that she knew. She never forgot anyone’s birthday or anniversary and she could also be counted on to make her loved ones feel special even on ordinary days. Lori was a consistent presence in everyone’s life. She selflessly dedicated her time and energy to bringing joy to others.

In addition to her genuine love of people, Lori also enjoyed collecting crystal angels, decorating stationary, completing word searches, filling in her calendar and playing scrabble. Her favorite past time was reminiscing with the people she loved.

Although Lori passed away on February 27, 2021, the joy she brought to the world will be everlasting. On that day her family lost a loved one but gained a precious angel. Lori will be sadly missed by her devoted husband (of 35 years), Al, her son Christopher & his wife Adebunmi; her father Frank Garripoli, her 8 loving siblings; Francesco, James & Wife Debi, Mark & wife Mary, Lesa Larocca, Jean Wahl & husband Pat, Jeralyn Primerano & husband Nick, Jill Garripoli-Pedalino & husband Marcello, Tracey Rodriguez & Roland, 16 nieces and nephews; Luke, Alli, Mark, Nicholas, Adriana, Lia, Nico, Noah, Joseph, Julian, Jonas, Frankie, Nickie, Gina, Zoe, Macy, 2 great nephews; Camden and Nikolas and 1 great niece: Olivia Shirley as well as all of her friends and those hearts she touched. Her memory will live on forever as she watches over us as our guardian angel.
