Lori Papenberg, 47, of Passaic Park, died on Nov. 22 in UMDNJ in Newark and fought a courageous battle with auto-immune liver disease. Born in Jersey City, May 29, 1962, she lived her early childhood in Clifton and later resided in Rutherford where she graduated from Rutherford High School in l980. Lori was predeceased by her mother, Joan (Grossi) Papenberg and survived by her father, Joseph and stepmother Joan. In addition to her two children, Jennifer and Michael Romanowski, Lori is survived by her devoted long-time companion Ed Shaw. She was also survived by her brother Joseph Jr. and his wife Gina and their two children Shealyn and Zachary and her brother James and his wife Jennifer and children, Nathaniel and Vivian and Desiree`. Also survived by her stepbrothers Robert, Timothy and Brian Jones and stepsister Erin Jones. Lori had many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Lori's love for animals was evident to all who knew and loved her. She had an association with the local animal shelter and was called upon many times to nurse and adopt cats, kittens and dogs who had been abandoned. Lori loved her job at the Rutherford Animal Hospital where she worked the last several years. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm, at the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford and Funeral Mass of Christian Liturgy Wednesday 9:30am at St. Mary's RC Church, Home Ave., Rutherford with the Internment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington where she will be laid to rest with her mother.
