Life Story for Lucia Ottomanelli

Lucia Ottomanelli (Olivieri) age 89, of Rutherford, formerly of Hoboken, passed on Sunday, April 21st, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family.

In Italy, Lucia who was a 16-year-old young woman met her future husband Onofrio who was only 18. From that first meeting it was love at first sight, since that moment they have always been together, never apart, a love story made in heaven. They courted for a few months, then married and proceeded to build their wonderful family. By the time they came to America in 1966 with six children, they decided to settle in a town called Hoboken, New Jersey where they had their 7th child . Onofrio worked his way into becoming a Long Shoreman, Lucia stayed home to handle her full-time job of running her home and raising children. Lucia was a very busy woman trying to raise her family in her new country of America inside the bustling town of Hoboken.

Things were going very well for the family until something life altering happened; their home in Hoboken tragically caught fire and was destroyed. Shaken but still determined, they took whatever they could salvage and moved their family to a new home in Rutherford in 2010, where they have resided ever since. Their happy marriage together continued watching their beautiful family grow.

Sadly, after 64 years of marriage Onofrio passed away in November of 2015. Lucia was devastated, but once again was determined to not be deterred, she still had her large family to take care of, which she was very much a part of.
Lucia is survived by her beloved children, Frank, Carmela Poccolino, “Tina” Marta De Pinto, Dominick, Maria, Stefano and Donna Ottomanelli. Her adored grandchildren, Lucia, Onofrio, Sabino, Onofrio, Maria, Lucianna, Michael, Dominck Jr., Delia, James, Briana, Lucia, Susanne, Joseph and Matthew. Lucia also leaves her cherished great-grandchildren, Veronica, Martina, Adriana, Giulia, Nicolo, Luca, and Lorenzo.
