Obituary for Lucy Bode

Lucy Bode
Lucy A. BODE BODE Lucy A., born July 17, 1923 succumbed to cancer on July 14, 2010 just three days short of her 87th birthday. She was born in East Rutherford, New Jersey to Carmine and Ermina Rega. Lucy married Edward W. Bode, the man of her dreams, on September 17, 1942. They had three children, Beverly Bode Blair (Gordon) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Edward G. Bode (Kathy) Rockaway Borough, New Jersey and Otto W. Bode (Beth), East Greenwich, Rhode Island.Lucy and Ed worked side by side in the family's restaurant, Ott's Spot in East Rutherford until his death in 1967. In New Jersey, she attended St. Joseph's R.C. Church where she was a member of their Mother's Club and a supporter of the CYO. In 1987 she moved to Salt Lake City to assist in caring for her grandchildren. "G-G", as her ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren lovingly referred to her, played cards, dominoes and had tea parties with them. In Salt Lake City, she was a devout member of St. Ambrose R.C. Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, her dear husband Ed, sister Carmel and sadly, her grandson Eddie. We extend "many thanks" to the Community Nursing Service Home Hospice caregivers and volunteers who helped to ease Lucy's pain and suffering and to the nurses from Danville Health Care for their caring and kind service. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Community Nursing Service Hospice Care, 383 Vine St., Suite 300, Murray, Utah, 84123."G-G" we will miss your bright smile, your wonderful biscotti's and pizzelles, but we know that your suffering has ended and you are at peace. A mass in celebration of Lucy's life will be said at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, East Rutherford on July 31, 2010 at 11 AM. All of her many friends are invited to join with the family to honor her memory.
