Obituary for Madan K Loonkar

Wife, mother, Nani, Dadi, sister and friend, Madan K. Loonkar of Wayne, New Jersey passed away on January 22, 2023.

Madan was born as Madan Lalwani in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. While her legal birthday is May 9, 1942 (courtesy of her father), Madan was actually born on January 26, 1942. She was raised with 7 siblings and was the oldest of the girls. On May 28, 1958, she married her beloved Yashwant Raj Loonkar. Together, Madan and Raj immigrated to the United States in 1966 where they would start a family and have three children, Anita, Sunil and Rakesh.  Madan resided in Wayne, New Jersey for most of her life since moving to the U.S., but frequently visited her family in India. In 2014, Madan was very proud to finally become a citizen of the United States.

Madan meant so much to everyone that met her. She was known for her strength, fiery spirit and unconditional love. She was very honest and she always spoke her mind. She fiercely loved everyone around her, especially her family. All she ever wanted was to spend quality time with her loved ones; she enjoyed playing games like cards and Connect4, sharing a meal and travelling. Madan was hilarious and loved to make jokes. The list of funny sayings and witty jokes she made is endless; she always knew how to make people laugh. Madan was also an amazing cook and anyone who was able to taste her food was lucky. She loved to spend her days cooking, watching tv, calling loved ones and taking naps. Madan was very confident and proud of her life, her children and her grandchildren.

Although Madan will be deeply missed, it is comforting to know that she is at peace and is happily reunited with her loving husband, Yashwant Raj Loonkar and son, Sunil Yashwant Loonkar. She is survived by her children:  Anita Loonkar Batavia and Joseph Batavia, Rakesh Loonkar and Arathi Reddy Loonkar, along with her grandchildren, Samantha, Stefanie, Jason, Ishan and Arya.  She will continue to be honored and remembered forever.

Family will receive friends Sunday January 29th from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.  Private Cremation.
