Maria Nieves “Marnie" Clemente, passed away after bravely battling an illness Friday, July 19, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.
Marnie was born in Pampanga, Philippines to Felixberto and Asuncion Guanlao. She studied at the University of Santo Thomas where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Marnie was a teacher and a caretaker. She and her husband Ceferino married 50 years ago. They came to the U.S. in 1986 to make a new home and raise their family, ultimately settling in New York.
Marnie was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her growing family meant everything to her, especially her four beautiful grandchildren. She was a very caring, generous, and an extremely selfless person who have helped countless family members, friends neighbors and anyone else in need. Marnie enjoyed traveling, shopping, cooking, eating and spending time with family and friends. She was close to her brothers and sisters and always looked out for them. Marnie was a loyal contributor to St. Jude’s Research Foundation.
Marnie is predeceased by her son Raymond (1975). She will be deeply missed by her devoted and loving husband Ceferino, her children, Teresa Smith and husband James, Noel Clemente and wife Sandy, her grandchildren; James, Tyler, Isaiah, Isla and her siblings; Consuelo Mijares and Ma Elisa Deladia. She is predeceased by three siblings, Felixberto Guanlao, Jr., Catalina and Nicholas Guanlao.
Family will receive friends Monday from 4pm to 8pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Funeral Tuesday gathering 8:30am in the Funeral Home for 9:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford.
Interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair.
