Maria, (nee Bianchi), of Rutherford, known to all as Nana, died on Tuesday, April 2nd. Maria was born on June 4th, 1927 in Maiorano di Monte, Italy to Raphael and Assunta Bianchi. She emigrated to this country on The Conte di Savoia in 1939. It was the last crossing the ship had made before the war. Her name is enshrined on the wall at Ellis Island.
Maria was the head waitress at George’s Restaurant in Moonachie for over 32 years. After her retirement, she volunteered at the family business, Professional Appointment Services. She was a wonderful cook and loved spending time with her family at the table. She enjoyed trips to the casino and weekly breakfasts with her brother, Lou.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Linda Leenig and husband Kirk; her granddaughter, Donna Kacperowski and husband, Bob; her grandson, Eric Thalasinos and her great grandson, Anthony Kacperowski. She also leaves behind her sister, Mary Josephine DiNuzzo, of Bridgewater; her brother, Louis Bianchi, of Lodi and her brother

Robert Bianchi, of South Plainfield, as well as all of her extended family.
She goes to join her brother, Emil Bianchi; her sister’s, Angelina Drozd and Yolanda Daniels. She leaves a lifetime of memories.

Funeral Friday April 5th , 9:00am in Funeral Home followed by 10:00 Mass of Christian Liturgy in The Church of Saint Mary, 91 Home Ave. Rutherford

Family will receive friends Thursday 4:00pm to 8:00pm in the Collins Calhoun Funeral Home,19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
