Obituary for Marion Mueller

Marion Mueller, 90, of Rutherford, formerly of Union City, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born in NYC to Salvatore and Theresa (nee Carr) Ferrara. Marion was born in NYC and moved with her parents and older twin sisters to Union City. She met her husband in the A&P Super Market while she was shopping. They fell in love and ultimately married in 1956 continuing to reside and raise their 3 children in Union City. She was widowed suddenly in 1981 and relocated to Rutherford in 2000 where she remained.

Known for her integrity and compassion for others, she was always dignified and held proper etiquette in high regard. Truly a person to be admired, Marion’s attributes served her well in in life. Prior to her 30 year career as an office administrator for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Marion was a legal secretary for various attorneys and judges dating back to then Governor Harry A Moore. Leaving her career to raise her children, Marion found joy in helping brides to be say “yes to the dress” while working as a part time consultant at Holthausen’s Department Store in Union City. While at the Port Authority, she attended college, and earned an Associates Degree from St. Peter’s in Jersey City.

Her strength of will served her well 20 years ago when she at age 70 she was caught in the tragedy of 9/11. Navigating 78 flights of stairs and making her way back to NJ, she was ready and willing to report to work the next day and continued working for another 10 years, often with perfect attendance.

Marion was an avid bowler for over 30 years making lots of friends and participating in tournaments along the way. She was an amazing lady. In many ways, Marion was “ahead of her time”.

Marion is predeceased by her husband Andrew (1981) and her sister Alice Murphy. She will be deeply missed by her children; Daniel and his wife Patty, Marianne Von Cappeln and husband Frank, Timothy J. Mueller and his wife Mary, her sister Genevieve Brune, grandchildren; Audry, Christine, Andrew, Mark, Katherine, John, her nieces and nephews, friends and puppies.
