Obituary for Mary Ellen Campbell

Mary Ellen Campbell passed away peacefully August 7, 2021 surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Jersey City and moved to Rutherford as a child where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Mary attended St. Mary’s Catholic School where she met many of her lifelong friends and collected wonderful memories. In 1970, she began working for Burlington Industries as a clerk typist and was promoted two years later to senior clerk. She met her good friend Tony three years later when she joined Stern’s Corporate Office as a secretary to the general manager. She was again promoted, this time, to the position of executive secretary to the president and vice-president.
While attending Bergen Community College, Mary earned an associate degree in the Legal Assistant Program. After gathering eight years of legal experience, she and her friend, Karen, opened Legal Depot, a paralegal temp service that employed many who were then placed in permanent career positions. Mary was known and respected in the legal field as the Operating Manager of Legal Depot and worked for local attorneys Charles Kahwaty, David Scillieri, Richard Allen, Walter Solmienski, Jr., and Charles Lange.
Mary enjoyed crossword puzzles, sudoku, keeping up with the news, socializing with friends on her back porch, and, vacationing in Sanibel Island, Florida, and Ocean Beach, New Jersey. Above all, she loved spending time with family.
Mary was a faithful, kind woman who put all others’ needs before her own and everyone who met her immediately loved her. She remembered the small things that mattered to her friends and family and comforting others was a comfort to her. That comfort and devotion will be missed by everyone who knew her, including her furry grand-nieces Harriet & Isabel.
She is survived by her loving sister Eileen Fuentes and husband Rick, her niece Erin Tyburski and husband Anthony Kennedy, and sister Kathleen Strasser.

Family will receive friends Monday, 4:00 to 8:00pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Ave., Rutherford.
Funeral Tuesday, all to arrive in Funeral Home 9:00am for 10:00am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of Saint Mary, Rutherford, followed by Interment in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
