Obituary for Maryann Smircich
Maryann Smircich, devoted daughter of the late Amelia and Stanley Smircich, beloved sister of Paul and Paulette, loving cousin of Annette and Dave Kinsley and Aunt Mar to David and Jessica, passed away on April 24, at the age of 68. She is also survived by several cousins and many friends.
Maryann spent her childhood years in Rutherford, where she attended St. Mary’s Grammar and High Schools and developed her talent for art, music, and language. A graduate of Douglass College and with a master’s degree in education, Maryann taught Spanish at Heritage Middle School in Livingston for thirty years before retiring and eventually relocating to Point Pleasant. She took with her cherished friendships that began with her professional career and lasted her lifetime.
An avid Giants fan, opera aficionado, gourmet, Maryann loved life at the Jersey shore, and she loved sharing her life with family and friends. Maryann touched us all with her generous spirit. She will be forever loved, remembered, missed - forever in our hearts.
Funeral Mass of Christian Liturgy on Friday April 29th at 10:00am in Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 120 Hoboken Rd., East Rutherford. Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
