Obituary for Melvin Edward "" Uncle Mel " " Cassidy

Melvin E. “Uncle Mel” 86 of Rutherford on April 20, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Brooklyn to Walter and Anne (Quigney) he lived most of his life in Rutherford.
He earned his Masters Degree from NYU in Electrical Engineering and served proudly in the United States Navy. He held memberships in the Rutherford Tax Payers Association, The Old Guard and the Kip Center.
Melvin is survived by his beloved wife Beatrice (nee Martinelli ) his devoted children Edward and his wife Laura, Maryhelen Szilogyi and her husband George and Walter J. Cassidy, his adored grandson David Szilogyi and great-grandson DJ Szilogyi, his sister Ann Court and her husband Rodney and is predeceased by his brother the late Raymond Cassidy ( 1965)
Funeral Wednesday 9:00am from Collins Calhoun Funeral Home 19 Lincoln Avenue Rutherford followed by a 10:30am Mass of Christian Liturgy in the Church of St. Mary, Rutherford.
Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, No. Arlington.
Family will receive friends Tuesday 2 to 5:00pm
