Obituary for Myungai Cho (Pai)

Myungai Cho, 95, of Rutherford, passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, November 28,2020. She was born in North Korea.

When Myungai was a teenager she was able to escape from North Korea to South Korea for freedom. She was determined to have a better life. She graduated from Seoul Nursing University in South Korea in 1949 becoming a Registered Nurse, later receiving her Masters degree. While in school she met Sang Suk Cho through a mutual friend, who would become her husband for 55 years. While raising her family Myungai had a successful nursing career, becoming head nurse at the Seoul University Hospital for 7 years, teaching in several Universities for a few years and working for the City of Seoul for 10 years.

In 1971 Myungai and her entire family immigrated to the United States.
She was an RN for Staten Island Development Center before retiring in 1983. Myungai Loved to help people. She attended Open Door Church in Leonia where she would love to teach her fellow people how to drive as well as understanding and learning all aspects of the transition to America.

Myungai is predeceased by her husband Sang Suk Cho (2004). She will be deeply missed by her loving children, Ben Cho and his wife Choonhee, Mike Cho and fiance’ Noriko, Sun Kim and husband Bonjue, 6 grandchildren; Jane Kang, Peter Cho, Elizabeth Chin, Mina Jonsson, Jennifer Galvin, James Cho, brothers, Seung Yoon Pai and Jang Yoon Pai.

Funeral on Wednesday, December 2nd at 1pm for Graveside Service in Laurel Grove Cemetery , 295 Totowa Road, Totowa, NJ.
