Obituary for Nicolas V. Santiago

Nicolas V. Santiago, age 78 was born on November 19, 1942 in Sta. Lucia, Calumpit, Bulacan, Philippines from his loving parents Tomas Santiago and Lourdez Velazquez. He attended Sta. Lucia Elementary School, graduated Calumpit Institute High School, and pursued a higher education at MAPUA Institute of Technology (1959-1960) and Far Eastern University (1960-1961). He completed his Bachelor of Science in Education in 1966 and started teaching at Calumpit Institute for 15 years. He then acquired a teaching job at Bauchi State, Nigeria, West Africa. In 1987, he landed a job as a 7th grade teacher at St. Margaret Mary in the Bronx, New York.
Outside of his teaching career, he knew how to keep himself entertained. Some of his hobbies included playing volleyball and tennis, leisurely watching Netflix and TV shows including jeopardy, playing mahjong, watching the NY Yankees, professional Tennis (ATP), using social media sites, and being with his family.
Nicolas was a loving husband, and a father of four, and fun loving grandfather. He has brought a lot of pride to his family and became their motivation to succeed in life. His memories will be measured forever and may his legacy live on.
Family will receive friends on Monday 4/5 and Tuesday 4/6 from 1 to 4:00pm. Religious Services will be conducted on Tuesday 4/6 at 3:30pm in the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home 19 Lincoln Avenue Rutherford, NJ 07070.
