They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on June 8, 2019. Born to Martin and Rose Napolitano, she was raised in Scranton, PA, and graduated from West Scranton Senior High School. Phyllis went on to work for Tobyhanna Army Depot, where she met Dennis Manion and on June 8, 1968 they were married. In that same year she moved to Lyndhurst, NJ, and in 1973 she settled in Rutherford where she raised her four children for 24 years.

She was a devoted wife and mother. Besides spending time with her family and friends, Phyllis had a passion for volunteering and she was an integral part of the Community. She spent many years helping at Rutherford Public Schools and various town events. She taught CCD at St. Mary’s Church, where due to her dedication and devotion she was awarded Catechist of the Year. She was involved with multiple charitable organizations to include United Cerebral Palsy, and Feed The Children, in which she tirelessly collected supplies to be sent overseas for children in need. In 2008 she moved to Bloomfield, NJ, and became a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

Her work accomplishments were many and she spent over twenty years with the IT/ Help Desk at The Record Newspaper. Phyllis was blessed with an abundance of grace and talent, as she was highly creative and artistic. She enjoyed painting, music, playing the piano, sewing, traveling, cooking and entertaining, and she had a deep love of children and animals.

She lived a selfless, robust, generous life that we are so very proud of. Phyllis’s beaming personality and contagious smile were truly an inspiration, and her bright light touched the lives of all who knew her.
