Obituary for Poli P "Politeia" Logothetis

Poli P. Logothetis, also known as Politia, 92, of Rutherford, NJ, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022. She was born in Aperion, Karpathos, Greece to Michael Petritis and Stamatina (nee Nissiriou). She married Peter J. Logothetis in Rhodes, Greece on July 29, 1956 and then came to the United States. They were happily married for forty-one years and their admirable family is an extension of the genuine love they shared together. Politia will always be remembered as a devoted and refined wife, mother and grandmother. Her generosity, hospitality and caring ways were always shown to her family and friends here and in Greece. Politia always enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. Nothing made her happier than cooking and baking her children’s and grandchildren’s favorite meals and have them visit at her house. Besides her pastimes for crocheting and painting, she was a proud member and supporter of the Omonoia Women’s Society of Aperion.

Politia is predeceased by her husband, Peter J. Logothetis, grandson, Peter M. Logothetis, siblings: Vasilia Eliou, Vasilios Petritis and Zoe Petritis. Survived by her children: James P. Logothetis and his wife Joyce; Tina Panagiotou and her husband Nikos; Felice Makris and her husband Periklis; and Michael P. Logothetis; grandchildren: Sophia & Panayioti Logothetis, Demetrios Panagiotou and his wife Kalliopi, Pollytia Chryssos and her husband Manolis, Ariadne Lambrinos and her husband George, Politia Kakaletris and her husband Kostas, Maria Nissirios and her husband Dimitri, Emmanuel P. Makris and his wife Marigoula, and Liliana M.Logothetis; great-grandchildren: Elias, Tina, Evangelia, Eleni, Felice, Sofia, Yanni, Periklis, Felice, Periklis and Eleni; Only sibling: Mrs. Nefeli Makris.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Calhoun-Mania Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford, NJ. A future interment will be at Aperion Cemetery in Karpathos, Greece.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for donations to be made in honor of Politia Logothetis to award an annual scholarship fund. The fund will be used to honor a student who will be graduating from Aperion High School. Politia always made an emphasis on the importance of education to all of her grandchildren, and this will be used to commemorate and promote students furthering their knowledge and fulfilling their aspirations.
